My polls and rankings are unique as I do not rank teams based solely on how they perform on any given weekend but rather on where they will end up at the end of the year. This system is more accurate than the AP and Coaches poles, which typically have more movement during the season. If you win, I will not move you down. Winning is positive and should be rewarded unlike the AP. This strategy requires me to spend more time to wisely choose who should be at the top, but I think it is a good thing. If you beat an FCS team, I will not move you backwards for taking a week off. However, there is a good chance that I may not move you up in the poll. A team that played an FBS opponent will get a chance to move up quicker and be rewarded for their choice to play a team at their FBS level.

AN EXTRA-LARGE SERVING OF RIVALRY AND THE PICKS

November 24, 2022
AN EXTRA-LARGE SERVING OF RIVALRY
Its Rivalry Week. Twenty-one games we have selected to pick that personify ill will and desire to win. Almost all these teams are out of the playoffs. Some are hanging on for bowl eligibility while others… This is their last game of the season. The weekend where its neighbor against neighbor and houses are divided. With that primer, Here are this week’s picks:

Mississippi State at Ole Miss
At one point this season Ole Miss was in the running for a playoff birth. After weeks of weeks of speculation about the future of their head coach, Ole Miss finally stumbled dropping three of their last four games. Like their neighbors to the north, the Bulldogs have lost three of their last four FBS games. It’s the Egg Bowl. Mississippi State for the win.

UTK at Vanderbilt
They don’t play for a trophy. There is no cute title for it. But it is a rivalry even though UTK has gotten the better part of it. It wasn’t always like that. In the first twenty-three meetings Vandy owned the series going 19-2-2. Then the Volunteers hired General Robert Neyland. “He was told to “Even the score” upon his arrival to Knoxville. Vanderbilt would go on to win only fourteen more times in the next ninety-three meetings. Vandy is on a two game SEC winning streak. UTK for the win.

PLAYOFFS, AUDITIONS, YANKEE STADIUM, AND THE PICKS

November 10, 2022
PLAYOFFS, AUDITIONS, YANKEE STADIUM, AND THE PICKS
You can look back ten years ago and see me pleading with the people that run college football for a playoff and a sixteen-team playoff. It will eventually come to fruition. (I don’t like the idea of having round one on campus.) We are going to a twelve-team playoff. New blood will make things more exciting and make more of the country feel more involved with it. It will also lower the chances of players to opt out of there are one of the sixteen teams in the playoffs. More on that after the picks.

This will be some teams last chances to get into the playoffs. It has been a wild season. Good teams dropping games for no reason. Playoff powerhouses suddenly powerless. We have got a battle for the Golden Boot this week as well as the Cortica Jug at Yankee Stadium between two undefeated teams. They will pack the cathedral of baseball in this yearly rivalry. Then there is an audition in Oxford, MS. If Lane Kiffin can beat Alabama, Auburn could have him at least on paper as their next head coach before sunrise.

Here are this week’s picks:

LSU at Arkansas
The Tigers are a much better squad than they were earlier this season. Arkansas has stumbled recently but do not count them out. This game is the Battle for the Golden Boot. LSU leads the series 42-23-2 but Arkansas won the last meeting. Will the Tigers have an Alabama hangover? Nope. LSU for the win.

Dustin’s Pick: LSU

Iowa State at Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State has uncharacteristically stumbled as late. They need to get back on track. Iowa State rebounded against West Virginia after going 0-5 in Big 12 competition at the start of the season. Both teams need this win. At home, Oklahoma State for the win.

Alabama at Ole Miss
This game was circled on the calendar before the season started. Now Alabama is out of the playoffs and is looking to knock Ole Miss out. If Lane Kiffin knocks off Alabama, he will be the next coach at Auburn. If he loses, he could be the next coach at Auburn. Alabama for the win.

PLAYOFF RANKINGS AND PROJECTIONS
If we had a twelve-team playoff with my poll, all Power 5 champions would make it. The projected American Champ, Tulane would bump UCLA out for the 12th spot. That leaves six open at large spots.

However, if we used my poll, with sixteen teams, conference champions were locked in as long as they were undefeated or had just one loss, seven conferences would take the automatic bid slots with nine open at large spots. There would be no bumping.

My polls and rankings are unique as I do not rank teams based solely on how they perform on
any given weekend but rather on where they will end up at the end of the year.

SEEING ORANGE IN GEORGIA, STATS, AND THE PICKS

November 3, 2022
SEEING ORANGE IN GEORGIA, STATS, AND THE PICKS
This might be the most hyped game of the year. One of these team will leave undefeated while the other will try to regroup so they might work their way back into the playoffs. At the end of the day, the winner will be the playoff favorite. For more, see my picks below.

Here are this week’s picks:

Kentucky at Missouri
Kentucky lost to South Carolina last month. Missouri is flying high after their upset to South Carolina last weekend in Columbia. On paper, this game is one of the closest that will be played this weekend. Kentucky for the win.

UTK at Georgia
Georgia still has big games ahead with Mississippi State and Kentucky up next. This may be the last test that the Vols have this season. It will be their biggest. Georgia leads this matchup if you look at the numbers. On the popularity side “Tennessee is back!” according to some people. I hate to say this but UTK’s undefeated streak ends this weekend. Georgia for the win.
