Upsets and close games draw the headlines as we narrow the field from the Elite Eight to Final Four

Last week Clemson surprised folks beating Poise State while Alabama struggled with Norther Illinois. There was no struggle this week as the Crimson Tide put a beat down on the Tigers shutting them out and winning 31-0 in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Alabama will platy the winner of the Capitol One Bowl.

The Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio was a high scoring matchup from the start but it was LSU that got behind early. The Tigers would come back but ran out of time as Wisconsin upset the No. 1 ranked team 38-31. The Badgers will play the winner of the AT&T Cotton Bowl.

The AT&T Cotton Bowl was as good as advertized but it was Arkansas’ defense that stopped the Oklahoma State run allowing 11 years on 10 attempts including several key stops that turned the game into the Hogs favor. Arkansas won 31-22 and will play Alabama in Final Four play next week.

The game of the day pitted upset minded Southern Miss against Stanford at the Capital One Bowl. The eagles beat Oregon last week in over time. Could they do the same again? Trailing Southern Miss, Stanford scored with seconds on the clock to send the game into over time. In the second overtime, the Cardinal held the Eagles to a field goal and then scored a touchdown to win the game 33-30. Stanford will take on Wisconsin in Final Four action next week.
